CPC – Collegiate Panhellenic Council
Welcome to the Women's Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC)
College is a time to explore who you are, what matters to you, and what value you want to bring to the world! And joining a sorority is about finding your people – the women who will cheer you on and challenge you along the way. Your future sisters will be there to support you as you learn all that you’re capable of, and through the sorority experience you’ll tap into your potential through exploring leadership, giving back to the community, and serving others.
What is Sorority Life All About?
Joining a sorority is more than just Greek letters – it’s about finding a community that helps you grow academically, socially and personally. Sororities are values-driven organizations that focus on friendship, leadership, service and scholarship. They create a strong support system during college and beyond, helping members build lifelong bonds and meaningful relationships.
What Do Sororities Do?
Sororities at UIC offer a wide variety of opportunities that enrich your college experience:
- Sisterhood and Social Events
From movie and game nights to sisterhood dinners and retreats, these events help members form close friendships and unwind from the demands of student life.
- Community Service and Philanthropy
Every sorority supports a national and/or local cause through fundraising and volunteer work. Members also team up with other Fraternity and Sorority organizations to make a bigger impact in our community.
- Academic Support and Scholarships
Sororities encourage academic success. Chapters often organize study hours, can help you find tutoring and other academic workshops. The sororities on our campus also offer scholarship opportunities to their members through their education foundations. On average, members maintain a higher GPA than the university-wide average.
- Alumnae Network and Career Support
Membership in sororities doesn’t end at graduation. Our organizations offer a lifelong sisterhood with a national network that can support members with job searches, mentorship and connections in new cities.
- Chapter Meetings
Chapters tend to meet once a week or bi-weekly to plan upcoming events, discuss chapter business and stay connected as a group.
- Safe and Fun Social Activities
Events like formals, mixers and social gatherings that follow national safety guidelines ensure fun, respectful experiences for all members.
Joining a sorority is about discovering your best self while being a part of something bigger. It’s a chance to grow personally, give back to our university community and make lifelong memories – all while finding a place to belong with the support of an empowering sisterhood.
Sorority is … a community of support. You’ve heard about our “sisterhood.” Sororities provide a family and a home away from home. Your sisters will be there for you – for celebrating your wins, for tough conversations, and for when you need a shoulder to lean on. Sisterhood is deeper than friendship and lasts far beyond the few years we’re in college.
